One of Hayashi’s students was Mrs. Hawayo Takata, a Hawaiian of Japanese descent. In the late 1930’s, Takata introduced Reiki to the West. She taught and practiced in Hawaii for many years before bringing Reiki to the mainland in the early 1970’s. Before her passing in 1980, she had taught Reiki to countless men, women, and children the world over and had trained twenty-two teachers (Masters). All Western Reiki practitioners trace their lineage through Takata. Article about Mrs. Takata. |
